Meglumine CAS 6284-40-8

Function:

Selecting a suitable counterion for meglumine is particularly important to improve the solubility and bioavailability of the drug. Meglumine (N-methyl-D-glucosamine, Meglumine) is a counterion widely used to improve drug solubility. It is a sorbitol-derived aminosugar with a pKa value of 9.6. Meglumine has a wide range of applications, especially for all weakly acidic drugs with pKa values between 2-7. Meglumine is being used more and more as a sodium substitute because it has sodium-like permeability and ionic radius and does not penetrate cell membranes.
