Function: 

Gamma-Valerolactone has strong reaction ability and can be used as a solvent for resins and as an intermediate for various related compounds. It is also used as a gelling agent for lubricants, plasticizers, nonionic surfactants, lactone additives for leaded gasoline, for dyeing cellulose esters and synthetic fibers. Gamma-valerolactone has a vanillin and coconut aroma.
