Function
Bromocresol green is slightly soluble in water, ethanol, ether, ethyl acetate and benzene. It is very sensitive to alkali and presents a special blue-green color when encountering alkaline aqueous solution. Bromocresol green can be used as an indicator. It is yellow when pH=3.8 and blue-green when pH=5.4.
Product Usage
Bromocresol green is an acid-base indicator. Its sodium salt is commonly used in colorimetric determination of pH value. Acid base indicator, pH 3.8 (yellow)~5.4 (blue). Its sodium salt solution is used as a chromogenic agent for determining pH value by spectrochemical book spectrophotometry. It is used as a reagent for the determination of aliphatic hydroxyacids and alkaloids by thin-layer chromatography and an extraction and separation agent for the determination of quaternary ammonium cations by spectrophotometry.
