3-Hydroxybenzoic acid is a white crystalline powder. Slightly soluble in water and benzene, soluble in ethanol and ether. Slightly soluble in cold water. Used as an intermediate in fungicides, coatings, preservatives, ion exchangers, plasticizers, and pharmaceuticals, as well as in the synthesis of azo dyes.
