Function:
Bright yellow needle-like crystals. Melting point 43-44℃, boiling point 153℃ (3.1kPa). Can evaporate with water vapor, has the fragrance of benzaldehyde. Soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, slightly soluble in water, flash point >110℃, reacts violently with pyrrole.
Application:
The product is an organic synthesis intermediate, and is used in the pharmaceutical industry to manufacture an anti-angina drug nitropyridine (Xintongding); the nitro group is reduced to an amino group to become an aminobenzaldehyde, and a quinoline ring drug can be synthesized.
