Function
Trimethylhydroquinone is a crystalline solid that tends to turn black when subjected to heat sublimation and moisture. Slightly soluble in water, easily soluble in ethyl ester, methanol, and insoluble in Petroleum ether. It and isophytol are two intermediates for synthesizing vitamin E.
