Function: 

Colorless liquid. Melting point -52.5°C (-49.8°C), boiling point 106.0-106.1°C, relative density 0.8102 (25°C), refractive index 1.3952-1.3960 (20°C). Flash point 23℃. Soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone, slightly soluble in water (solubility of 2.44% at 15 ℃). Vapor volatile. With mint odor.

Application: 

This product is used as a solvent and extractant. It can also be used in organic synthesis. React with hypochlorous acid to generate trimethylacetic acid; react with alkaline potassium permanganate aqueous solution, be oxidized to trimethylpyruvic acid; and aldehydes, ketones, acetic anhydride are prone to condensation reaction. Used in the production of pesticide fungicide benzyl chloride triadimenol, triadimenol, triadimenol, bisbenzotriadimenol, alizarinone, octadimenol; and plant growth regulator polyadiazole, enrozole, bud inhibition azole, acetazole, metribuzole and so on. It is also used in the production of herbicides and pharmaceutical products.
