Function:
N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) is a colorless or light yellow transparent liquid with a slight odor at room temperature, easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, chloroform, glycerin, tetrahydrofuran, Vinyl acetate, and aromatic solvents such as toluene. NVP belongs to lactam compounds; there is a vinyl group attached to the N atom, which provides special properties for the polymerization and application of NVP; these two structures make NVP easy to polymerize and easy to hydrolyze.
Application:
- Plastic This monomer can be added to the formula of UV curing coating to form a flexible and hard plastic film. Adding NVP to radiation medical formulations can improve the elongation, viscosity, etc. of high-gloss and low-gloss coatings.
- Wood enhances product performance, increases productivity and reduces the pressure on environmental pollution, which are the main reasons for the investigation of the use of scattering coatings in the furniture industry. The addition of NVP to UV-resistant coatings used in the wood flooring industry can provide equivalent physical properties to wax-free floors.
- Papermaking UB and EB curing coatings used in papermaking or cardboard generally require low viscosity and high reactivity. NVP meets these criteria by improving flow and measurement levels, while maintaining good curing characteristics.
