Function:

It is a commonly used base in alcohol deoxycyandiamide and secondary amine N-cyanide reactions, while sodium tertiary pentanol is an effective base for ketone alkylation. It can be used to prepare composite reducing agents to reduce 1-halogenated naphthalene and substituted halogenated benzene to corresponding naphthalene and benzene.
