Propylene glycol alginate is abbreviated as PGA, which belongs to alginate esters. Propylene glycol alginate is made from alginic acid extracted from natural seaweed by deep processing. Appearance is white or yellowish-white powder, almost odorless or slightly aromatic, tasteless, hygroscopic, easily soluble in cold or warm water to form a viscous colloidal solution. Insoluble in methanol, ethanol, benzene and other organic solvents.

Application:

  1. Used as stabilizer, thickener, emulsifier, foaming agent and spice extraction solvent. Because of its propylene glycol group in the molecule, it is commonly used in low pH range foods such as lactic acid beverages and fruit juice beverages.
  2. It is used in cold drinksand medicines with functions of emulsification, thickening and stability.
  3. Mainly used as emulsion stabilizer and thickener
