Application of Methyl Salicylate:

1. Methyl salicylate is the core ingredient of all kinds of topical pain relief creams and patches (e.g. rheumatism cream, muscle soreness patch). It can penetrate through the skin, inhibit local inflammatory response, relieve muscle strain and joint pain (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, bruises and sprains), as a ‘local analgesic switch’ to quickly reduce discomfort.
2. In some oral agents (such as mouthwash, toothache reliever), its bactericidal and slightly anaesthetic effect can temporarily reduce gum inflammation or toothache, while bringing a sense of coolness.
3. Holly oil used in acne and exfoliating products, it can gently dissolve dead skin in the stratum corneum, unclog pores, reduce acne, and also has a certain antibacterial effect.
4. Methyl salicylate often used as a flavouring ingredient in toothpaste, soap, perfume and other daily products, giving the product a unique plant fragrance.
5. Methyl salicylate can be artificially sprayed on crops (e.g. tobacco, tomatoes) to enhance their resistance to viruses and fungi (e.g. powdery mildew), as well as to attract natural enemies of pests.
6. In fruit storage, low concentrations of methyl salicylate can inhibit ethylene synthesis, delaying fruit ripening and decay.
