Function:
1. Ferric chloride is an efficient flocculant.
2.Ferric chloride can react with phosphate in sewage to produce insoluble iron phosphate precipitation.
3. Ferric chloride is a traditional etchant.
4.Ferric trichloride can be used for the etching treatment of metal surfaces to obtain special surface textures and properties.
5. In some organic synthesis reactions, ferric chloride can be used as a catalyst.
6. Iron trichloride solution has a certain disinfecting and sterilizing effect.
7. Ferric chloride can be used as a mordant in the printing and dyeing process.
Application:
1. It can be used for treating domestic sewage, which can effectively remove suspended matters, some heavy metal ions and organic pollutants in water, and make the sewage become clarified.
2. Phosphorus removal method is used to treat industrial wastewater (such as phosphorus-containing chemical wastewater) and domestic sewage.
3. Used as an etchant in the manufacturing process of printed circuit boards (PCB).
4. Surface corrosion of some metal artifacts, it can also be used as a metal passivator to form a protective film on the metal surface to improve the corrosion resistance of the metal.
5. It can be used to detect the presence of certain compounds. For example, it reacts with phenolic compounds to produce colored complexes.
6. It can be used to treat small wounds, such as hemostasis and disinfection of superficial wounds; in field first aid or some simple medical treatment, ferric chloride solution can be used as a temporary disinfectant.
7. In the dyeing of natural fibers (such as cotton, linen, wool, etc.), the use of ferric chloride as a mordant can make the color more vivid and long-lasting.
