Function:
1. The lone pair electrons on the nitrogen atom of DBU make it have strong alkalinity. At the same time, its steric hindrance is large, resulting in its weak nucleophile.
2. Nitrogen atoms in DBU can provide lone pair electrons to form coordination bonds with metal ions, so they can be used as ligands with transition metal catalysts.
Application:
1.DBU can be used as catalyst for Baylis-Hillman reaction and Knoevenagel condensation reaction.
2. In some nucleophilic substitution reactions, DBU can be used as a base to promote the reaction.
3. In the synthesis of some special ester compounds, DBU can be used as a catalyst to catalyze the transesterification reaction, which has important applications in organic synthesis and the modification of polymer materials.
4.DBU can be used as an initiator or catalyst to participate in some polymerization reactions, such as anionic polymerization reactions, so as to prepare polymer materials with specific properties.
5. In the synthesis of cephalosporins and other drugs, DBU can be used as a protective agent.
6. Because DBU has strong alkalinity and weak nucleophile, it is often used as an organic base reagent.
7. As a ligand, DBU can form complexes with a variety of transition metals, which have a wide range of applications in catalysis.
8.DBU can be used to dissolve and activate cellulose.
