Function:
Metabolic intermediate function: 5-Aminolevulinic acid (ALA) is an important biochemical intermediate. In organisms, it is a key precursor for the biosynthesis of tetrapyrrole compounds such as heme, chlorophyll and vitamin B₁₂. In mammals, ALA is mainly synthesized in the liver through succinyl-CoA and glycine under the catalysis of ALA synthase, and then heme is generated through a series of enzymatic reactions. In plants, it participates in the synthesis of chlorophyll and is essential for photosynthesis.
Application:
Plant growth regulator: ALA can be used as a plant growth regulator. It can promote plant photosynthesis, increase chlorophyll content, and make leaves greener and thicker.
Skin care product ingredient: Added to skin care products as a biologically active ingredient. It can promote the metabolism of skin cells and increase skin radiance and elasticity.
