Function:
Oxidation function: NMO is a mild and selective oxidant. The N-O bond in its molecule has high activity and can provide oxygen atoms to cause oxidation reactions in many organic compounds. It usually has good chemical selectivity and stereoselectivity in the oxidation process and can oxidize alcohols to aldehydes or ketones.
Solubility-enhancing function: NMO has a certain polarity and is miscible with many organic solvents and water. In some organic synthesis reaction systems, it can be used as a solvent to help dissolve some insoluble reactants and improve the uniformity of the reaction system, thereby promoting the reaction.
Activation function: In some reactions, NMO can form a specific interaction with the substrate molecules, so that the substrate molecules are in an activated state that is more conducive to the reaction, reduce the activation energy of the reaction, and increase the reaction rate and product selectivity.
Application:
Oxidation reagent: It is a commonly used oxidation reagent used to oxidize alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones.
Drug synthesis intermediate: It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of various drugs. Through structural modification and further reaction, it can be introduced into drug molecules to give drugs specific activity and properties.
