Function:
1. Hydroxyethyl methacrylate has high reactivity and is capable of free radical polymerization.
2. The presence of hydroxyl group (-OH) gives it various chemical properties.
Application:
1. Used as a copolymerization monomer in the preparation of waterborne acrylic coatings.
2. Used in UV-curable coatings, which are widely used for surface coating of plastics, metals and paper.
3. Used in the preparation of reactive adhesives, such as polyurethane adhesives and acrylate adhesives. Can be used to bond a variety of materials, such as leather, wood, plastic and metal.
4. Used as tackifiers in the formulation of pressure-sensitive adhesives. Used in the preparation of medical pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes.
5. Added to acrylic resin to modify the resin through copolymerization reaction. Can be used in the manufacture of plastics, coatings, inks and adhesives and other products.
6. Blending or reacting with polyester, polyether and other polymers to modify these polymers.
7. It can be used to prepare biomedical materials, such as tissue engineering scaffolds and drug slow-release carriers.
8. As a component of fabric finishing agents, it is used to improve the performance of fabrics.
